The Faust legend is played out on the fields of baseball. Joe Boyd, a predictable, suburban middle-aged fan, sells his soul to the devellish Mr. Applegate in order to help his Washington Senators win the pennant. Transformed into the dashing Joe Hardy, he improves the Senators’ record, reaching the final game of the season against the damn Yankees. Joe gets homesick for his wife, Meg, discovers an escape clause in his contract and tried to break the agreement so Mr. Applegate sends the sexy Lola to convince Joe to honor his contract. In the end, Joe returns to Meg.
